Last week, I shared a bit about choosing kanji for my kids’ names.
After we’d gone through the challenge for their given names, I realized that we needed kanji for our last name, which I imagined to be quite difficult.
Many years ago, someone had mentioned a few options which I brought up to my friend. She didn’t like the overall effect though, saying that it was too… botanical… I guess we’ll call it.
Anyway, she ended up, in five minutes, giving me an option that I felt was almost prophetic. Surprising, her not being a believer yet.
Our kanji that reads out our family name became:
有散努
有 means to possess, exist, happen
散 means a bulk of loose things, like seeds
努 means to toil
Which, I’ve always said that we are seed-sowers. And given our work, I’m hoping it will be a bulk job.
Sometimes God gives us these words to hang onto.
And this is one I’m hanging on to.
